Shiny New Product Review: New Oreo Fudge Cremes

Curse you impulse buying!  I've done it yet again.  Well, truth be told, this was my husband, yet again.  He's a sucker for Oreos.

I fortunately am not as obsessive as I once was with my sweets eating.  I used to go through a full 1/2 gallon carton of ice cream in one sitting.  On a regular basis.  But age has seemingly toned down my sweet tooth.  However, I was willing to revisit my old haunting grounds in order to try a "new" product.

They weren't quite as expected.

Don't ask me why.  I apparently just don't pay attention.  But why am I paying more per box and per Oreo for half of an Oreo?

Here's your after bite shot:

They are horrible.  The chocolate is waxy, even by American standards.  And regardless of whether you are an Oreo creme lover or cookie lover of the Oreo you will be disappointed.  The box has sat around our house uneaten for the last two weeks.  I finally threw it away.  And in my house where we are cheap and engage in mindless eating - that is saying something.  So save yourself a couple bucks and buy something quality - like a lovely Cup o'Noodles.

Shiny New Product Review: Oreo Dairy Queen Blizzard Creme

Okay friends, I know you all rely on me to be the guinea pig and eat things for you.  So of course I HAD to buy these new Oreos.  Absolutely no choice in the matter.  Sometimes, I just have to accept my lot in life.  Also,  kudos to Nabisco.  First they lured me into becoming their Facebook Friend in order to get a buy one get one free coupon for Oreos and now they have tempted me into test driving a new product for them.

When I saw the post come up on my newsreel I knew I had to try them.  I have fond memories of Dairy Queen as a child - ice cream cakes, deliciously seasoned french fries, and most importantly, Blizzards.  What can I say?  I'm a glorified ice cream junkie.

Needless to say I was pretty excited at the prospect of combining two fantastic things.  It took two trips to the store before I found these on the shelf.  They were about the same price as regular Oreos but when I came home I saw that I had been gypped.  The packaging was much like that of the Fudge Covered Oreos - spaced inside so you have only half as many.

That didn't turn out to be an issue as I was in no way addicted to these.  Normally the husband lectures me on eating an entire row at the time.  Not so much with these.  Product Fail.  Don't bother buying these.  It's not that they tasted bad but regular Oreos win out any day of the week.  The chocolate cookie is rock hard and you could risk breaking a tooth.  And the cream is nothing special.  I was momentarily excited when I opened the Oreo up and saw the little cookie bits but that passed when I bit in.  The cream and cookie combination actually tasted like a generic Oreo - which I think are a crime against humanity.  Nabisco, I'm afraid you've disappointed me.

Peepseos

In case you have leftover Peeps...

I found a use for stale, rock hard (or fresh and fluffy pillows of delight) Peeps. Not only are they easy to make but fun to say. Peepseos! I'm pretty sure someone is going to write an upbeat song or jingle for these creations now.

Here's lookin' at you kid
Simply take the following:

Separate the Oreos. Make sure to break a few - because it would not be acceptable to use broken Oreos and you can thereby conclude that they must be disposed of (in my belly!) properly. I'd recommend having icy cold milk at the ready. Cut the heads off the Peeps (try to ignore their little Peep screams) and then put their bellies in between an Oreo and place their little decapitated heads on top.

Help Us!

Microwave for about 15-20 seconds. Do not stick your fingers in the hot marshmallow. I learned that lesson when I was ten.   They will look like they've grown up!  Or, gotten a little jollier over the holidays.

Yummy!  Next time I make these, I'm adding chocolate frosting in between the Oreos for added gooey happiness.  You may not need more chocolate - but I do.  Enjoy!
